The Lay Academy of Religion announces focus of study for Fall 2013: Religion & Science. They will launch this series of studies with the book PROOF OF HEAVEN by Dr. Eben Alexander, MD. To explore these questions, behavioral scientist Robert “Bob” Anderson will kick-off the study on Sunday, October 6 at 4 p.m., in the church sanctuary. Cheering Section:


The football team beat Notre Dame 34-32 in their first home game of the season. Puma Nuredini booted the game winning field goal with 4.5 seconds remaining to finish off the Notre Dame College Falcons.

rp_primary_IMG_4565The women’s volleyball team went 2-1 last week with wins over Bluefield State and West Liberty.

rp_primary_Tennis_Hensley_and_PenaThe women’s tennis team bounced back from a loss to West Liberty to sweep Concord and beat UVa-Wise 8-1.

small_IMG_4685The cross country team dominated the 3rd Annual Golden Eagle Invitational over a five-team field. Kourtney Willey was the overall champion running a meet record time of 24:44.95.

This Week in Sports:

  • Women’s golf is on the road to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on Converse College.
  • Men’s and women’s soccer play Concord away on Tuesday.
  • Volleyball heads to Glenville State on Tuesday and Wesleyan on Friday.
  • Women’s tennis plays Shepherd at home on Saturday at 11 a.m.
  • Football plays Shepherd away on Saturday.
  • Women’s soccer has their 25th Anniversary and Senior Game vs Wesleyan at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Tailgate starts at 2 p.m. Food and beverages provided.
  • Men’s soccer takes on Wesleyan at home 7 p.m. Saturday night.
