UC will host the WV High School Quiz Bowl Kick-Off tournament on September 28, 2013 on the UC campus in Charleston, W.V.a. All teams will play morning and afternoon rounds.

Great news for music lovers this year!  Your UC ID entitles you to free admission to up to six performances by the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, beginning this weekend.  Just present your University of Charleston ID at the ticket counter.  All performances begin at 8 p.m. at the Clay Center in Charleston.

The Lay Academy of Religion announces focus of study for Fall 2013: Religion & Science. They will launch this series of studies with the book PROOF OF HEAVEN by Dr. Eben Alexander, MD. To explore these questions, behavioral scientist Robert “Bob” Anderson will kick-off the study on Sunday, October 6 at 4 p.m., in the church sanctuary. The event is open to all. Cheering Section:


Jackie Bakos has been named Mountain East Conference Player of the Week after going undefeated for the Golden Eagles over the weekend.


Women’s cross country finished second at the MEC preview.


Charleston’s Kourtney Willey has been named Mountain East Conference Runner of the Week for her performance at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.


The football team defeated UVA-Wise 38-15 in their first Mountain East Conference game.


The volleyball team finished 2-2 in the MEC/PSAC Crossover Tournament.


The women’s soccer team beat Urbana 3-2 on Saturday.


The men’s soccer team beat Urbana 3-2 as well on Saturday.


The women’s golf team finished fifth at the Memorial Tournament, and third at the Wooster Invitational.

This Week in Sports:

  • The volleyball team takes on Bluefield State on Tuesday at 7pm, West Liberty on Friday at 7 p.m., and Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday at 4pm. All games are in the Eddie King Gym.
  • Men’s and women’s soccer travel to Wheeling Jesuit on Wednesday.
  • Women’s tennis plays West Liberty at home at 4 p.m. on Friday and then heads to Concord on Saturday and WVA-Wise on Sunday.
  • The men’s golf team head to Moundsville, WV for the MEC Northern Regional Tournament this weekend.
  • Women’s cross country takes on WV State this Saturday.
  • Football is at home at 1 p.m. vs Notre Dame (Ohio).
  • Women’s soccer plays West Liberty at 2 p.m. at home on Saturday.
  • Men’s soccer is at home vs Slippery Rock at 3 p.m. Sunday.
