imagesA memorial service will be held for recently deceased University of Charleston student Ashli Whitehair on Wednesday, March 26, at 9:30 p.m. in Riggleman Hall’s Kennan Music Room (first floor below the auditorium).

Beta Mu InductionUC ATEP student Kayla Dozier was recently inducted into the Beta Mu Chapter of Iota Tau Alpha. She joins fellow UC inductees Jeremy Bowman, Paige Leaver, Raquel Hill-Spranger, Cory Rueckert, and Lindsey Martin Rueckert as a member of the athletic training education honor society.

Origins of Psychology GroupMembers of the Origins of Psychology tour group are pictured displaying replicas of flags of the two countries they visited, Germany and Austria, during a spring break European trip. Vienna, Berlin, and Leipzig are the major cities that the group explored as they visited sites significant to the founding of psychology.

What does the national motto, “In God We Trust,” mean to Americans today? Join us for a free event on Thursday, 3/27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Geary Auditorium that will explore the topic with President Welch and a panel of community leaders including: Dr. Daniel L. Anderson, Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball, James Haught, Imam Ehteshamul Haque, Monsignor P. Edward Sadie, and Rabbi Victor Urecki.


Teacher-Of-The-YearThe UC Education Department would like to invite you to a presentation by 2014 West Virginia Teacher of the Year Erin Sponaugle on Monday, 3/31 at 1 p.m. in the Riggleman Hall Rotunda. Ms. Sponaugle is a fifth grade teacher at Tomahawk Intermediate School in Hedgesville, W.Va. A National Board Certified Teacher with 11 years of experience, she has developed programs to address the interests and needs of pre-service teachers across the state. rp_primary_Untitled-7Women’s basketball coach Adam Collins was named MEC Coach of the Year! Chyress Lockhart was named to the First Team All-MEC and LeAnne Ross made the Second Team. The lady golden eagles finished in third place in the MEC and lost in the MEC tournament final.

rp_primary_Untitled-8The men’s basketball team are the first-ever MEC champions! Coach Dwaine Osborne was named MEC Co-Coach of the Year! Xavier Humphrey was named to the First Team All-MEC and Aleksander Kesic made the Second Team.

rp_primary_IMG_0331The men’s tennis team beat Fairmont state 8-1 on Friday and went on to shut out UVa Wise 9-0 on Saturday.

rp_primary_FainSoftball split wins with Glenville State on Saturday and went 0 and 2 against Wesleyan on Sunday.

rp_primary_DSC_0865The men’s golf team finished sixth in the St. James Plantation Invitational. UC golfer Thibaut Carmingnano tied for second place.




This Talon was prepared by UC senior Megan Bauman. Megan is a communications major interning in the UC Communications Office, and a member of the women’s soccer team.
